Little Late.... but still WOOOOO!!!!

WOOOOO!!!! Canada qualified for the Olympics in Baseball, now i know a lot of people out there are saying well shouldn't we. well lets look at the standings:

Team: W-L
Canada 6-1*
Korea 6-1
Chinese Taipei 5-2
Mexico 4-3
Australia 4-3
Germany 2-5
Spain 1-6
South Africa 0-7
*Canada gets top spot because Canada beat Korea.

So that's the final standings, lets put some context to these numbers, top 3 teams make the Olympics, and looking at that list you would think we should make it no problem BUT, Australia won the silver medal in the 2004 games and Mexico, South Africa and Australia where all in the World Baseball Classic. And last 2004 was the first time Canada ever made the Olympics in Baseball, so we arnt that good. So its still some props to Stubby Clapp and the rest of Team Canada for making the Olympics, so boys make us proud.

On another note, i really wish MLB players would play in the Olympics but i know why they dont, also i wish Baseball would still be an Olympic sport after 2008. I do know why not but still it would be nice on both these points

Later dayz Guys

The team may not be that bad.

Doing a quick scan of guys that will probably be playing in the minors at the time of the tournament-

George Kottaras: Pawtucket Red Sox (9 HR in 294 AB last year

Ryan Braun: Omaha Royals (1.09 ERA with Omaha last year

Phillipe Aumont: Everett Aqua Sox (Mariners top pick in 2007)

Scott Mathieson: Lehigh Valley Ironpigs (averaging over a K per inning)

Too bad it wasn't last year, we would have Joey Votto playing first base.

That is ridiculous. Considering most of the Canadians grew up playing hockey, I'd hate to see that Asian team (Chinese Tapei?) in a fight with them. I think that was Mike Saunders (who had a ridiculous season with High Desert and West Tenn) last year who looked he was going to take on the whole team. The guy is like 6'4" and 215. Another huge British Columbian in the mold of Larry Walker and Justin Morneau. Wonder if he played goalie growing up?
