Little Late.... but still WOOOOO!!!!

WOOOOO!!!! Canada qualified for the Olympics in Baseball, now i know a lot of people out there are saying well shouldn't we. well lets look at the standings:

Team: W-L
Canada 6-1*
Korea 6-1
Chinese Taipei 5-2
Mexico 4-3
Australia 4-3
Germany 2-5
Spain 1-6
South Africa 0-7
*Canada gets top spot because Canada beat Korea.

So that's the final standings, lets put some context to these numbers, top 3 teams make the Olympics, and looking at that list you would think we should make it no problem BUT, Australia won the silver medal in the 2004 games and Mexico, South Africa and Australia where all in the World Baseball Classic. And last 2004 was the first time Canada ever made the Olympics in Baseball, so we arnt that good. So its still some props to Stubby Clapp and the rest of Team Canada for making the Olympics, so boys make us proud.

On another note, i really wish MLB players would play in the Olympics but i know why they dont, also i wish Baseball would still be an Olympic sport after 2008. I do know why not but still it would be nice on both these points

Its almost over

My heart is going to fail if the Habs keep on going up and down up and down, Tabarnac! Why does it seem every time we pull away we get pulled back in. so as of now (and as long as the Sens don't win today) Montreal has a 2 point lead in the northeast, and i do have to point this out. Montreal has the ability to come out of the east, despite with all the media and fans saying otherwise. The team may not be as Star filled as other teams but the ability is still there. So lets start giving Montreal props for doing what the seem to be doing.

Now on to other topics, Pronger! this is a pick from TSN, and it gives the best still image i could find. So the question at hand is how many games. I am going to say this first A stomp is a Stomp no matter what the intent was, just as a trip is a trip even if it was not on purpose, so the question is was 8 games enough? My opinion yeah that sounds about right. I dont think he meant to stomp him and he was just trying to get free but in the end a stomp is a stomp no matter what and he should get some sort of punishment for what he did. Pronger has a history of suspensions and should get a good suspension for it, i personally said he will get 7 games so i was off by one.
And last point today, so the Leafs lost last night HOPEFULLY they will stop talking about the Leafs, im done i will not be talking about them again unless something big comes up.

Just fall off the Tree

So the Leafs will need to go 11-1 in the last 12 games to make the Playoffs, DO YOU HEAR THAT 11-1, YOU CAN ONLY LOSSE ONE GAME!
so this is my point I dont want to hear about the Leafs anymore, they arnt making the playoffs they will be in the basement in the end, so lets stop talking about them.
The Oilers are out and we dont talk about them, why do i have to hear about the Leafs every time i turn on TSN, or Sportsnet. Start talking about the Canadian success, like the Habs who are currently in 2nd in the east, or the Flames who are in 3ed in the west. Or talk about the team that is fighting for its playoffs lives, the Canucks, or the collapse of the Senetors. Now i know they talk about these stories (its the first time in a long time i like when TSN talks about the Habs cuz its actually something positive for once in my life) but the problem is most of the talk is still about how "The Leafs may make it" oh leafs just fall to the bottom so i dont have to hear about you anymore

Yum Yum its that time of year

AHHH the sun of warm, green grass, and BASEBALL IS BACK ON TV! Oh i love this time, baseball is a great summer sport, and spring training is the best time of the baseball calendar. Every team is playing and a bunch of young players trying to make it big, oh its amazing.
I know most people in Canada hate baseball, but i think its because most people in Canada don't understand it. One day this summer head out to your local stadium (GO RAPIDS!) with some friends grab a beer and sit in the sun and watch the Boys of Summer! (Oh grab a pretzel too, they are amazing at baseball games)

March Maddness!

So i know we have all heard this debate before BUT... why does the division lead in the NHL mean anything! for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about lets look at todays standings in the east (top 8):
1 Montreal Canadiens* 66 GP 81 PTS
2 Pittsburgh Penguins* 67 GP 81 PTS
3 Carolina Hurricanes* 68 GP 73 PTS
4 Ottawa Senators 66 GP 80 PTS
5 New Jersey Devils 66 GP 80 PTS
6 Boston Bruins 64 GP 76 PTS
7 New York Rangers 66 GP 76 PTS
8 Philadelphia Flyers 66 GP 74 PTS

ok so everything looks right EXCEPT WHY IS CAROLINA in 3rd seems to me they should be in 8th.
Why does the NHL reward teams that are in crap divisions by giving them home ice advantage. I like what the NBA has done and giving the division leaders in the top 4 but in my opinion the division leader should be given a playoff spot and that’s it no more no less.
Its time we put an end to division leaders getting 3ed place automatically!
